Limericks

June 20th, 2009 by Daft Olivia. Age 7

There is a rather nifty trick to writing limericks callled the AABBA rule. AA are two lines that have to rhyme, and BB are also two lines that have to rhyme but not the same as AA. Finally A has to rhyme with AA. Here is an example which I hope makes sense, unlike the limerick!

  • A.There was a young man called Joe
  • A. He was always on the go
  • B. He bumped his head
  • B. On a old mans shed
  • A. And then he hurt his toe

Here is another silly example:

There was an old pirate called Billy. He wore shirts that were rather frilly. He walked round the ship, with his hand on his hip, but his crew thought he looked rather silly.
